In my ten years working in sales and sales management for a highly respected wholesale florist, the biggest need I saw was for education and information. So many new florists find them working harder than they ever have before and unfortunately, many of them lack the tools they need to make their dreams of a successful flower shop come true. On a weekly basis, I answered calls from all types of people who had decided to open a flower shop. I loved those calls! A chance to share my experience.
I have worked for 10 years, business to business with literally hundreds of retail florists. From traditional stores to studio shops and super markets. From seasoned veterans to recent design school graduates, even with customers who had never worked in a flower shop in their life.
I worked for 5 years for a large, multi location retail florist in Lebanon PA, Royers Flowers. That experience began as an internship in my junior year of college through the American Floral Endowment’s Mossmiller Scholarship program. When I graduated from Cornell University www.cornell.edu with a BS in Floriculture and Ornamental Horticulture, I returned to that retail florist as a regular employee. I moved through their extensive design training and management training programs. I was the assistant manager of a $1M+ sales location when I left there to join the Wholesale Florist, Dillon Floral Corp www.dillonfloral.com in Bloomsburg, PA.
During my tenure at Dillon Floral, I had unparalleled opportunities to help produce and attend design shows, seminars and hands on workshops. I have attended many trade shows and worked one on one with floral supply, plant and fresh flower vendors, manufacturers and growers.
The intention of this site is to help you succeed as a retail florist… I want to provide good information and additional resources to help you be all you can be. My advice to you is: Plan carefully, choose wisely and enjoy this wonderful industry!
